Golden Eagles Wrap Strong Week at Racer Intercollegiate, TSU Big Blue Invitational

PADUCAH, Ky. & NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech men’s golf team turned in a solid week of competition across two events, posting a top-10 team finish at the Racer Intercollegiate while also delivering multiple strong individual performances at the TSU Big Blue Invitational.

At the Racer Intercollegiate in Paducah, Ky., the Golden Eagles finished ninth overall with a three-round total of 881 (+17), carding rounds of 293, 291 and 297 at the Country Club of Paducah.

Tennessee Tech was paced by Haden Maxwell, who tied for 16th at 217 (+1). Maxwell opened the tournament with rounds of 71 (-1) and 70 (-2) before closing with a 76 (+4). Nick Etherton followed in a tie for 22nd at 218 (+2), rebounding from a first-round 77 (+5) with back-to-back under-par rounds of 70 (-2) and 71 (-1).

Bryson White finished tied for 42nd at 223 (+7), while Drew Bolton placed tied for 62nd at 228 (+12). Cooper Gettler rounded out the lineup in a tie for 71st at 231 (+15).

The Golden Eagles remained competitive throughout the event, sitting inside the top 10 in each round against a deep field.

Competing simultaneously at the TSU Big Blue Invitational in Old Hickory, Tenn., a group of Golden Eagle individuals also posted impressive results at Hermitage Golf Club.

Matthew Shull led the way with a seventh-place finish at 212 (-1), delivering rounds of 73 (+2), 69 (-2) and 70 (-1). Spencer Stuke added a top 20 finish, placing 17th at 218 (+5), while Alex Broyles recorded a 33rd-place showing at 223 (+10), including an even-par 71 in the final round.

Owen Bright rounded out Tech’s competitors with a 58th-place finish at 230 (+17).

The week showcased depth across the Golden Eagles’ lineup, with multiple players turning in sub-par rounds and top 25 finishes as Tech continues to build momentum heading into the final stretch of the spring season.
