Drucilla’s Little Helpers
Recently, I got a phone call from a “hacker.” He said, “You know that I have all your passwords?”
I said, “Oh, that is wonderful. Could you please tell me?”
I see you rolling your eyes at me.
My green beans are beginning to come in. Today, we’re going to cook a mess. My family broke them up. I washed them and put them in a pot with water about level with them. I put a little bacon grease in them.
I don’t salt them until the end, when they are soft. They absorb the salt better. I cook them on medium-high, then turn them down and simmer until tender. I put in small pieces of potatoes and cut-up yellow squash. Put the lid on and simmer until done.
Then I made cornbread muffins. This sure was good. I also had salsa and onion and fried green tomatoes. I ate them right away.
I had cucumbers, so I made cucumber spread. It’s great with anything, especially for parties.
Ingredients
- 1 cucumber, peeled and cut into pieces
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- A little dill seasoning
- Salt to taste
Directions
Put the cucumber in a little food processor and pulse a few times. Squeeze out the water. Add the cream cheese to the cucumber. Sprinkle in dill weed. Mix together with a mixer. Salt to taste.
Make sandwiches or use it as a dip with crackers.
Next week, we will do more fresh vegetables. If you have a request or have a good recipe to share using fresh garden vegetables, why don’t you call me at 931-510-1349 or email me at raydrucilla@gmail.com?
There’s a verse in the Bible that tells us to “be still and know that I am God.”
Does He want us to sit all day and just focus on Him? That would be hard to do if you were taking care of a family, working at a job or both. But we can pause during the day, read His Word and talk to Him.
Don’t you love it when your children talk to you? Sure you do.
I will talk with my son today and wish him a happy birthday. Fifty-five looks pretty good on him.
Smile and be kind. It will make your face feel better and look better.
