New rehabilitation hospital promises care closer to home

A major expansion of inpatient rehabilitation care is officially underway in Cookeville.

Cookeville Regional Medical Center and Encompass Health broke ground Monday on a new 50-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital on the CRMC campus. The facility is expected to expand access to specialized care for patients recovering from strokes, serious injuries and other complex medical conditions.

“We take building healthier communities seriously,” CRMC CEO Buffy Key said during the ceremony. “This is important to the patients and the hospital.”

The new hospital will feature private patient rooms and provide intensive rehabilitation services closer to home for patients and families throughout the Upper Cumberland.
